Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds Soul gospel Jazz and R&B to create a unique mix. Avery Sunshine has appeared on Broadway and in festivals throughout Europe, as well as the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine's given the name of Denise White. While she now lives in Atlanta the place she was raised is Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical experience began at the church, where she sang and performed piano. She studied at Spellman College and began to master the R&B style of Atlanta. In 2005 she was hired as the lead keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, who won Tony and Grammy Awards for her singing and her music, invited Sunshine to sing in the Dreamgirls production during Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was recognized nationally during her four daily performances at the Democratic National Convention. She was then invited to perform at President Barack Obama's inaugural in 2009.
